Williams Village
Williams Village is a group of residence halls at the University of Colorado Boulder.[1]
General
Williams Village, known by students as "Will Vill," "Chill Vill","Trill Vill", or "The Projects" consists of five towers: Darley North, Darley South, Stearns East, Stearns West, and Williams Village North.[1] These towers house approximately 1,400 residents. In order to be a resident of Will Vill one has to be a student at the University of Colorado or a resident hall staff member. A portion of Stearns East tower is substance-free [2] as part of the CORE program;[3] the use of alcohol, illegal drugs, and tobacco in this dorm are all prohibited as well as coming back to this dorm under the influence of any of these drugs.[3] The floors in each tower vary between consisting of all male, all female, or both genders. Williams Village consists of the widest variety of dorms such as singles, doubles, adjoining doubles with bath, triples, and triple suites. Each room comes equipped with air conditioning, XL twin beds, a desk and desk chair for each resident, a closet for each resident, a bookshelf, a micro-fridge, basic cable programming, and wifi access. One of the most beneficial aspects of Williams Village are the study areas located on the third, sixth, ninth, and twelfth floor crossovers between the Darley towers, as well as the 15th floor of Darley North and the 13th floor library in Stearns East. These study areas provide residents with a quiet place to gather their thoughts or get to work.
Amenities
Just south of the towers is Darley Commons. Darley Commons is the dining hall as well as a social and administrative center of Williams Village. Williams Village has numerous amenities such as the tennis courts, basketball courts, volleyball courts, soccer fields, and the Bear Creek Recreational Center. Along with these recreational luxuries, Will Village also has a convenience store located inside Darley Commons called the Village Market.[4]
Location
Williams Village is located about 5 minutes off campus at the intersection of Baseline Road and 30th Street. Nearby are the Bear Creek apartments and the Recreational Center Annex. Across the street from Williams Village, on the other side of 30th Street, is a Dairy Queen, The Broker Inn and Restaurant, Cosmo's Pizza, McDonald's Restaurant, Williams Village Liquors, a Conoco Gas Station, and a Sprouts Grocery Store.
Transportation
Because the resident hall is located off campus a bus transports the resident's of Williams Village or "Will-Villians" to and from campus for free. These Buff Buses are scheduled to come about every fifteen minutes. Depending on where a student's class is located, he or she may choose to take either the Regent Loop or the Colorado Loop.[5]
History
The Stearns and Darley Towers of Williams Village were built in 1966 and 1969.[6]
