Windsor Locks is an Amtrak railroad station in Windsor Locks, Connecticut on the New Haven-Springfield Line. It is the northernmost Amtrak station in the state of Connecticut. The station today consists of an open shelter on a raised concrete platform.

The Connecticut Department of Transportation has proposed that the planned new commuter rail service called the Hartford Line stop at this station. The Hartford Line will operate between New Haven, Connecticut and Springfield, Massachusetts, with service scheduled to begin in early 2018.[2]

History

The former railroad station

The former Windsor Locks station is located about a mile north of the current Amtrak station. Built in 1875, that station is a former New York, New Haven, and Hartford Railroad depot and has been listed on the National Register of Historic Places since 1975.[3][4] There are continued efforts to move the current Amtrak stop closer to the historic station and downtown area.
