History
Winstead was founded in 1973 by three young Dallas lawyers—including current name shareholder Pete Winstead. By the end of the 1980s the Dallas practice had expanded to more than 170 attorneys, with additional offices in Houston and Austin.[2] Acquisitions of existing firms in Fort Worth, The Woodlands and Washington, D.C., resulted in greater expansion of client services. Today, Winstead employs 300 attorneys in nine locations across the United States.
2011 Houston Office Lateral Recruiting
Winstead went through a period of rapid expansion in 2011, adding 28 lawyers across its footprint, including seven in Houston prior to the latest move. Legal sector HR search firms say Winstead is one of several firms that have recently enticed groups of Houston attorneys away from competitors.[3]
