"Wishing You Were Here" is vocalist Alison Moyet's second single of 1991. The song was the lead single from the album Hoodoo.
Like the previous single "It Won't Be Long", this single failed to enter the UK top 40. "Wishing You Were Here" peaked at #72, lasting in the Top 100 for one week.[1]
A promotional video was created for the single, although there were no TV performances, resulting in the poor charting. Columbia Records complained that the single as well as the album was not commercial enough.
Kirsty MacColl provided backing vocals on "Wishing You Were Here".[2] The b-side for the single "Back Where I Belong" appeared on the same album as the eighth track, written by Moyet and Glenister.[3]
