Wolverine Hill was first built in 1935 and hosted competitions every winter---except for the WWII years---and remained in use until 1963 when it was demolished in a storm. The facilities were rebuilt in 1975 and hosted the USA Ski team for practice in November of 1975. Steve Sydow of Duluth set a new hill record of 68m (223 ft.) in 1983. The Wolverine Hill was in operation until 1995 when declining numbers of competitors forced its closing.
The Gogebic Range Ski Club ( now Copper Peak Inc.) built Copper Peak Ski Flying facilities in 1970 and continues to operate the ski flying facilities to the date.
The Ironwood Ski Club (organized in 1905) operated the 40 meter Curry Hill ski jump from 1906 thru 1914 and the Norrie Athletic Club operate the 50 meter Curry Hill site from 1922 thru 1930. World's records were set on Curry Hill by Anders Haugen in 1911 of 152 feet and in 1913 Ragnar Omtvedt set a world record of 169 feet. In 1923 a world record leap of 182 feet was recorded on Curry Hill by Walter Brattlund of Ironwood, the longest leap off a free standing slide.
