Wong Shoon Keat (born 1957)[1] was a badminton player from Singapore. He won Singapore's first ever badminton gold[2] from the 1983 SEA Games[3] and till date, is still Singapore’s only title from the badminton men’s singles event. That year, he pulled off a shock upset over reigning world champion Icuk Sugiarto of Indonesia, and beat another Indonesian star, Hastomo Arbi in the final. His son, Derek Wong, is currently Singapore’s top male shuttler.
