The area is lowland heathland consisting of a patchwork of various habitats, with wet and dry heathland, woodland and ponds. It has an abundance of the otherwise locally rare sundew plant Drosera intermedia.
The four common reptile species, adder, slow worm, common lizard and grass snake are all found on the site.
