Wulgurukaba
Wulgurukaba (pronounced Woolgarookarbar) is an indigenous tribe in Townsville, Queensland, who were based in the area of Townsville which is now known as Wulguru, which is a suburb of Townsville that is home to the most indigenous people in the Townsville Region.
History
They were based around the base of the mountain (Mount Stuart) in the area which is now known as the Heights. They were left with the land that spread from the base to what is now the Townsville University Road which runs past Lavarack Barracks.
Native title
In July 2012, a six hectare section of Magnetic Island was granted to the Wulgurukaba people under native title.[1]
