The Wyoming Policy Institute (WPI) is a nonprofit conservative think tank based in Cheyenne, Wyoming. The group's stated mission is "to educate the public on how public policies affect free market principles; government fiscal responsibility; a limited transparent and accountable government; strong families and individual responsibility."[1]
The group applied for 501(c)(3) status in November 2011.[2] It received its tax-exempt status in July 2013, 20 months after making its initial application. Janie White, the Wyoming Policy Institute's executive director, said she believed the granting of the group's tax-exempt status had been delayed due to the IRS targeting controversy.[3][4]
