Xenia Christian School is a private, non-denominational Christian school in Xenia, Ohio, United States. It is one of two schools run by the Dayton Christian School System. Xenia Christian includes grades Transitional Kindergarten through 12. Dayton Christian School System added Xenia Christian Elementary and High School in 1993 and a Middle School in 2011.[3] Their nickname is the Ambassadors. There are approximately 200 students attending Xenia Christian High School. The school features a library, computer lab, auditorium, and a gym. Xenia Christian School has a fine arts department featuring band and strings starting in fifth grade and continuing through high school. Choir begins in grade seven and continues through high school. Each year a musical or play is performed by the high school. Dan Bragg assumed the role of Principal beginning with the 2013-2014 academic year. For the 2016-17 school year, XCS will become independent of the Dayton Christian School System. The school will change its name to Legacy Christian Academy and the mascot will become the Knights.
Academics
Xenia Christian School features a library with 13,334 volumes, a computer lab, 24/7 online grades, online event calendar, and an Intervention Program. Chapel is attended by all students each Thursday, and Bible memory, as well as Bible class, is mandatory for all grades.
Location
Xenia Christian's campus is located on Home Avenue (US Route 68) on the southern end of the city of Xenia. XC moved to its present location in 1999. It had previously been in a building on Bellbrook Avenue in Xenia, west of the current location. The elementary was located in nearby Emmanuel Baptist Church.
The campus Xenia Christian School is located on was formerly home to the Ohio Soldiers' and Sailors' Orphans' Home, which was later renamed "Ohio Veterans Children's Home" in 1978. The Ohio Veterans Children's home closed to incoming students in 1995, and was closed completely in 1997. Xenia Christian School now uses the school building formerly occupied by "Woodrow Wilson High School", the school that was operated by the home.[4] Legacy Ministries International purchased the 253-acre (102 ha) campus in 1998 and Xenia Christian had its first year at legacy campus in the 1999–2000 school year. There is a museum on the campus dedicated to the Ohio Veterans Children's Home.[5]
The campus is divided into three sections owned by Athletes in Action, Dayton Christian School System, and National Church Residences. The campus is home to Legacy Village Retirement Community, The Schindler Banquet Center, Joni and Friends Ohio, and Heart to Honduras.
