Features
The Xiaomi Redmi 2 is powered by a 64-bit Qualcomm Snapdragon 410 Chipset and come with 2 variants, normal version which pack 1GB RAM and 8GB ROM and enhanced version which pack 2GB RAM and 16GB ROM.
Software
The Redmi 2 offers Android 4.4.4 Kitkat, with proprietary MIUI v6 custom graphical user interface pre-installed by the manufacturer and can be upgraded to MIUI v7 via OTA. The Redmi 2 comes with a factory-unlocked bootloader, allowing users from the outset to further develop the OS and "root" the device, or gain legitimate privileged control in Android's subsystem. The software-development community has released custom ROMs and Kernels for the phone, even though the lack of any kernel sources provided by the manufacturer. The kernel sources were released a year later.[2][3] The Redmi 2 has achieved unofficial stable builds of CyanogenMod 11 (Android 4.4), 12.1 (Android 5.1), 13.0 (Android 6.0.1).[4][5][6]
Display
The Redmi 2 has a vibrant 11.9 cm (4.7") IPS panel fully laminated display with 1280x720 HD resolution at 123 pixels per cm (PPCM) or 312 PPI. It has also 178° In-plane switching (IPS) technology which delivers stunning color consistency from almost any angle. It is also designed with a fully laminated display which allows pixels to sit close to the glass, so colors pop right off the screen and are less affected by glare.
All of this is protected with a highly shatterproof and scratch-resistant AGC Dragontrail glass that is known for being incredibly strong despite being very thin and light.
Hardware
The Redmi 2 is powered by a 64-bit Snapdragon 410 Quad-Core clocked at 1.2-GHz.
It has Cortex-A53 processor which has 30% faster browsing speeds and 50% higher CPU performance than it’s predecessor, Cortex-A7. It has Adreno 306 graphics with DirectX and FlexRender support.
Successor
Xiaomi Redmi 3 is an Android smartphone developed and produced by Xiaomi. The Xiaomi Redmi 3 was announced in January 2016.[7]
