YMCA University of Science and Technology (YMCA UST), formerly YMCA Institute of Engineering (YMCA IE), is a state university located in Faridabad, in the state of Haryana, India. It was established in 1969.[1]

History

YMCA UST was established in 1969 as an indo-German project, a joint venture of the National Council of YMCA India, the Government of Haryana and the Central Agencies for Development Aid, Bonn, Germany. In December 2009 it was awarded the status of state university by the state government, thus making it an autonomous institution.

Campus

The campus of the YMCA University of Science and Technology is located in the sprawling Faridabad-Ballabgarh Industrial complex, on NH-2 about 30miles from the capital Delhi. The lush green campus incorporates branches of the Indian Overseas Bank, Indian Post and various other medical and hosteling facilities. Various sports facilities are available in campus premises . Moreover, a new world class badminton court is under construction near shakuntalam, the college auditorium.

Academics

YMCA University hold four year undergraduate B.Tech courses in several Engineering fields such as Computer Engineering, Information Technology, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Electronics & Communication Engineering and Electronics Instrumentation & Control. The intake procedure is simple, anyone who wants admission need to appear for joint entrance examination and based on performance in the test, admission is granted {http://ymcaust.ac.in/images/ordinance/ordinance_btech.pdf}. Also the YMCA University of Science and technology offers Two year M.Tech courses in the similar branches.[2] In addition YMCA offers a Master of Business Administration (MBA) course also. Admission is preferably through the Common Admission Test (CAT) or Management Aptitude Test (MAT), but first class engineering graduates are also considered.[3]

Student life

YMCA University holds several annual festivals. 'CULMYCA' is the annual cultural festival, held in February/March where young students from all over India showcase their talents .[4] KHOJ, the annual technical festival, involves students from technical institutions from the country. 'CONCOURSE' is the annual sports meet.

YMCA UST has IEEE Club to promote professional competencies of the graduates. Various workshops and contests are organized in association with this organization.

Hostel

YMCA University has separate hostels for girls (two wings) and boys (4 wings : Zakir Hussain Hall, Nehru Hall, Tagore Hall) . Facilities like free WiFi are provided in the hostels.
