Yago (formerly known as Yago, pasión y venganza), is a Mexican telenovela produced by Carmen Armendáriz for Televisa.[1][2][3] It is based on the French novel, The Count of Monte Cristo by Alexandre Dumas and Auguste Maquet.[3] and is also a remake of the Turkish series, Ezel.[4]It premiered on May 2, 2016 on Univision.[5][6]A total of 65 episodes have been confirmed so far.[6]
The series stars Iván Sánchez as Yago, Gabriela de la Garza as Sara, Flavio Medina as Lucio and Pablo Valentín as Abel.[7][8][9]
Plot
Omar is betrayed by a woman named Sara and several friends; he is later unjustly imprisoned. After being released from jail, he undergoes plastic surgery and plots his revenge under his new identity, "Yago".[10]
Production
The series primarily films in Mexico City and in other locations in Mexico.[10]Production officially began on January 18, 2016.[3]The telenovela was originally called, Yago, pasión y venganza, but it was later changed to Yago. A teaser trailer and promos were released in early April 2016.[11][12][13]
