Yashwant Deshmukh is a political analyst, author, psephologist, keynote speaker, communications professional and trainer. He is the founder of research and consultancy organization Centre for Voting Opinion & Trends in Election Research (CVoter), a participant of World Values Survey primary researcher with the Australian Centre on Quality of Life, life member of World Association for Public Opinion Research  (WAPOR) and member of International Society for Quality of Life Studies (ISQOLS), European Survey Research Association (ESRA) and The Election Centre. He is also a Leadership Dialogue Expert[1] with the United States India Political Action Committee (USINPAC),

Early Life and Career

Yashwant Deshmukh passed out of the Indian Institute of Mass Communication (IIMC, New Delhi) in 1993 and received the UNI award for best research dissertation in the same year. He has received professional training in Evaluations & Research (University of Ulster, UK), Polling & International Observations Missions (University of Bergen, Norway) and Elections Administration (Auburn University, USA).

Yashwant started the first Indian Daily News Analysis program that was aired on a 24-hour Indian Satellite News Channel and has produced and anchored daily and weekly shows on Indian media houses like JainTV, Zee News, Aaj Tak, Sahara India and Star News.

Publications

Yashwant Deshmukh has done notable work in surveying and analyzing transitional and Disaster and Conflict-hit societies. He participated as a discussant in the conference "Surveying Areas of Natural Disaster and Armed Conflict" conducted by the American Statistical Association. Yashwant also contributed to the book "Hard To Survey Populations" published by the Cambridge University Press.

Yashwant is a visiting faculty in six Universities and institutions and his workshops are attended by over 500 students every year.

He has co-authored the book - A Ripple in Development - that lays down "Long Term Perspectives On the Response to the Indian Ocean Tsunami 2004". The book features with the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD). Yashwant’s Indonesia Case Study of the 2004 Tsunami that analyses "Links between Relief, Rehabilitation and Development in the Tsunami Response" is part of UNDP’s Tsunami Evaluation Centre Study.

Entrepreneurial Venture

Yashwant Deshmukh started CVoter in 1993. It has offices in Washington DC, Dubai and New Delhi. Yashwant Deshmukh is often quoted by media and research organizations especially for his analysis [2] of Transitional, Disaster & Conflict-hit societies, especially his works in South Africa, Egypt, Pakistan, DR Congo, Indonesia and Sri Lanka.[3][4][5][6]

Yashwant Deshmukh is an avid user of Twitter and has over 79,000 Followers on the micro-blogging site. Yashwant writes for a number of publications including The Huffington Post, First Post and India Today Group.
