Yeo Bee Yin (simplified Chinese: 杨美盈; traditional Chinese: 楊美盈; pinyin: Yáng Měi Yíng; born 26 May 1983) is a Malaysian politician, currently serving as the Selangor state assemblywoman for Damansara Utama as well as Democratic Action Party Social Media Strategist. Yeo graduated from Universiti Teknologi Petronas (UTP) with a First Class Honors in Chemical Engineering under Petronas Scholarship . After 2 years working with Schlumberger, she went on to pursue MPhil (Masters in Philosophy) in Advanced Chemical Engineering in Cambridge University under Gates Cambridge Scholarship and completed her master's degree with a Commendation.

In the 2013 general election, Yeo won the State constituency of Damansara Utama on a DAP ticket by a landslide, leading by 21,818 over Liew Wei Beng (Ind) and Lim Choon Kin (BN).

Political career

She has been volunteering in DAP since February 2012 before joining with another high profile academician, Dr Ong Kian Ming, in August that year.[1] While running her own business, she also held other positions within the political party; a Social Media Strategy Advisor [2] and special assistant to the MP of PJ Utara, Tony Pua. She is now the state assemblywoman in Damansara Utama.

Some of the urgent issues in her constituency that require Bee Yin’s immediate attention are high crime rates, traffic jams, flash floods and poverty issues. She hopes that her constituents would engage with her to tackle these problems together.[3]
