Ysgol Brynrefail is a secondary school in Llanrug, Gwynedd in North Wales. There are approximately 740 puplis and the current headmaster is Mr Eifion Jones,.[1]
Extra-curricular activities such as the annual Eisteddfod form an important aspect of school life. Around Christmas time, sixth form pupils have the opportunity to organise and host a party for children from a local special needs school.
Ex-pupils currently working in the world of Welsh television and radio include presenter Dafydd 'Du' Meredydd; radio presenter Jeni Lyn; television presenter Trystan Morris; and members of several bands including Race Horses, Derwyddon Doctor Gonzo and Y Bandana.
Notable alumni also include Welsh literary greats T. H. Parry-Williams, Gwenlyn Parry and Eirug Wyn. Sporting former pupils include Welsh international footballer Malcolm Allen and David Brailsford CBE, the esteemed British Cycling performance director.
