Yujian Zheng
Yujian Zheng (Y.J. Zheng, 郑宇健) is a philosopher studying ethics and comparative Chinese and Western philosophy, with interests in rationality and rational choice theory, philosophy of mind, moral epistemology and psychology, social science and political philosophy.[1] He is an associate professor at Lingnan University (Hong Kong) and writes in both English and Chinese. He also served as a hostel warden in Lingnan University (2007-2008).[2]
Career
Zheng earned a BS in engineering mechanics from Jiao Tong University (Shanghai, 1984), and then completed an MA in philosophy at Renmin University of China (Beijing, 1987) and a PhD in philosophy (Bowling Green State University, Ohio, 1995) with a dissertation entitled Motivation, Deliberation, and Rationality for Dynamic Choice.[1]
After receiving his MA he was an assistant research fellow at the Chinese Academy of Sciences serving as chief English interpreter for its Institute of Policy and Management Science (1987–1989). While pursuing his PhD he held a teaching fellowship at Bowling Green State University (191-1993). Joining Lingnan University's philosophy department, he served as assistant professor for seven years before becoming associate professor in 2002.[1] In April 2003 Dr. Zheng was one of six faculty who was honoured with Lingnan University's Research Excellence Award.[3]
