Yun Hyon-seok (hangul: 윤현석 尹賢碩, August 7, 1984 – April 26, 2003[1]) was a South Korean LGBT poet, writer and LGBT activist.[2] He committed suicide in protest against discrimination against homosexuals in South Korea.[3][4] During his life, he fought against social discrimination, racism and homophobia.

In 2000 until his death, he was controversy for opponents of homosexuality and homosexual psychopath theorist. Throughout his school years, he was shunted aside to the same age peer group, In December 2002, he was planning to leave school to attend Seil High-school. In 1999 to 2003, he was active in the anti-LGBT discrimination Movement and LGBT rights movement and homophobia opposition movement. In 2001, he debutted in literary world, involving himself in poet, writers and columnists activities also, mainly poets. So he was severely discriminated against and prejudiced, because of his sexual identity. In 2002, he joined the Solidarity for LGBT Human Rights of Korea. He was also a peace activist and a conscientious objector to military service.

Life

Early time

Yun Hyon-seok was born in 1984, Bupyong, Incheon.[2] He was born into a devout Roman Catholic family and baptised Antonio. his familys was more teachers of one of schools.[9] He was bullied throughout his school years and eventually dropped out of Incheon High School in 2002.[10] always he was too thin-skinned, so he often had to take a tranquiliser, sleeping pills.[11] In 1999, Yun was Discussions and Dispute for Internet and Forums, some more South Korean Homophobia until his death. After completing elementary school, he was writing Poem and Prose, but his more work has given to the notoriety for not see and not read, only because his Sexual identity. He was reveal a confession disappointment, prejudices and conventions, superstition and the remnants of a blind faith, cling to old customs strongly dominated to South Korea. After dropping out, he moved to the Dongdaemun District in Seoul and became involved in literary and LGBT activist scene there. Yun insisted that homosexuality was not a mental illness and that it was personal taste. But, Yun was a devout Catholic, but Criticism of Christianity on homosexuality. so known it's because he have been largely despair.[20]

In April 11, he was withdraw from the Catholics, cause for backlash of Christian fundamentalist's homophobia.[2] but withdrawn in two days.[2] after, he was prayed daily, desire for do not homosexuals discriminated to his god.[2] Yun Hyon-seok was Suicidal determination, anger of some more Christians homosexuals hatred.

Death

In April 2003, Hyon-seok and other human rights activists were making preparations for a May Day meeting.[7] For a long time, he was a devout Christian, despite the criticism from other Christians because of his sexual identity. Yun was disappointed for a long time, however he was saved to his religion.[2][7] at once he had suffered or homosexual discrimination and contempts. On 26 April 2003, he committed suicide on Dongdaemun street in Seoul by hanging himself.[24] On April 26 at three, Yun was reported to have been drinking alcohol. Before he hung himself,[12] two days before his death, Yun created a six-page suicide note.[25]

Legacy

Yun left a will, to continue to fight for prejudice and discrimination.[30] in his will was written "My lovly brothers and sisters! Everyone's efforts to change the world.[19]" In April 29 2003, In the wake of his death, homosexuality is delete to South Korean government's designated Obscene words, slang words.

After his death was Intentionally turned away and disregarded by some Homophobic Christians of South Korea.
