Yuri Alexandrovich Garnaev (Russian: Юрий Александрович Гарнаев, 17 December 1917 - 6 August 1967) was a famous test pilot in the Soviet Union.
Biography
He made a series of high-speed (up to 800 km/h) ejection seat test and parachute test jumps in 1951.
Then he started his test pilot career in 1951, working for the LII.
Made numerous series flights by Soviet VTOL program and Yakovlev Yak-36 testing.
Awarded the title of Hero of the Soviet Union in 1964.
Yuri Garnaev perished in a Mi-6PZh helicopter crash in Le Rove, France, while fighting extensive wildfires.
