Yuri Vladimirovich Lodygin (Russian: Юрий Владимирович Лодыгин, Greek: Γιούρι Λοντίγκιν), born 26 May 1990, is a Russian-Greek footballer who plays as a goalkeeper for Zenit Saint Petersburg and the Russian national team.

Career

Born in Vladimir to a Russian father and a Pontic Greek mother, and lived since 2000 in Greece, Lodygin played for Skoda Xanthi, coming from the youth team. At the season 2008/2009, his performances with the Skoda Xanthi U21 team, which finished first at the U21 Greek Superleague, lead to a professional contract signed at 17 June 2009. He was then loaned at Eordaikos 2007 for the season 2010/2011, where he made 25 first team appearances (and 2 at the Greek Cup). He returned at Skoda Xanthi, he made his first appearance at the last fixture match against Ergotelis, and from the season 2012/2013 he is in the basic line-up . He was member of the Greek U21 Football Team.

In June 2013, Lodygin moved to Russia to play for Zenit Saint Petersburg for a fee of €800.000.

International

Lodygin represented Greece internationally on junior levels and he was called up to the main Greece squad in May 2013. He was called up again in August 2013, but he refused to report.

He was called up by Fabio Capello to the Russia squad for the first time on 4 October 2013 for the 2014 FIFA World Cup qualification matches against Luxembourg and Azerbaijan.[1] He made his debut for Russia on 19 November 2013 in a friendly against South Korea.

On 2 June 2014, he was included in Russia's 2014 FIFA World Cup squad.[2] Igor Akinfeev played in goal for all of their matches in a group stage exit.
