Jhagadia (Gujarati: ઝઘડીયા) is a taluka in the state of Gujarat, India. Jhagadia is located 2 mi (3.2 km) south of on southern bank of the Narmada river. On its north lies the historical town of ShuklaThirth, where Chanakya lived until he returned to Pataliputra (now Patna). The economy of Jhagadia is dependent on Industrial area (G.I.D.C.)and the fertile land where Banana, Sugar cane, Cotton, wheat, Jowar(Sorghum), vegetables and various fruits are grown and exported. Trade to the interior villages, local government offices, and reputed Seva Rural hospital and local businesses provide most of the employment.

It is home to a town called Bhalod, on the Narmada river bank, across from Koral town. Bhalod is famous for farming bananas, cotton, and sugarcane, although it suffers from a high rate of emigration, primarily to the United States, Canada, United Kingdom, and Africa.

Bhalod is famous for its cultural activities, such as the three-day program of Gangadashahara, during this period many Brahmins from various part of Gujarat and Foreign are travel to Bhalod to be blessed by the holy River Narmada, in celebration of the 'birth' of the holy River Ganges. Bhalod is host to a number of temples, including "Ramnath Mahadev", "Mokshnath Mahadev", "Datatrey", "Ranchhodnathji" and "Gayatri Mata".

Gujarat Industrial Development Corporation has developed a mega industrial Estate in Jhagadia,Where Companies Like Saint-Gobain, Pepsico, United Phosperous, Kohler, S. Kumar, Century Textile and Industries, Aarti Industries Limited, Gulbrandson, BEC Fertilizers Limited, Welspun(Remimetals), Metco Roof, Brakes India and others have already put up their Manufacturing Units, Recently Agrotech (an affiliate of ConAgra) has also started there fully owned plant.

Education in Jhagadia

In Jhagadia, there are two high schools that serve the local population, an all-female primary and middle school, and an all-male primary and middle school. The oldest high school is Diwan Dhanji Shah High School, which was founded in 1942 by a group of concerned(Diwan of Rajpipla's King) citizens in response to the lack of public education in the remote region. The strength of the education program in the 1950s and 1960s was noted throughout Gujarat.

In Jhagadia, there are many places to visit such as Jain Daherasar, Kabirvad, Gayatri Mandir, Hanuman Tempel. Trip to Banana Farms and ride in Bullock cart in fields are the experience of a lifetime. "Gumandev" a sacred place 3 km far from Jhagadia. "Gumandev" is a temple of Lord Hanumanji, it is said that temple is very old, Large number of people from different parts of the world visiting this temple is the testimony of people faith in the divine power of this grand old deity. The place called Ratanpur a few Kilometers from Jhagadai is also a nice place to visit, there lived the Sidis, a Black and burly people who are India’s forgotten link with its African past. An unchronicled history of African slaves who were sold to Indian masters 800 years ago.
