Zaib Jaffar

Mrs Zeb Jaffar was elected as Member, Provincial Assembly of the Punjab in general elections 2008 against one of the sixty-six seats reserved for women.[1] She is the daughter of Ch Muhammad Jaffar Iqbal, a senior Parliamentarian and Chief of the Gujjar Tribe and is the grand-daughter of Ch Muhammad Iqbal of Chalianwala, also an ex-Parliamentarian. She was born in Hyderabad. She did her Senior Cambridge from Murree Convent Jesus & Mary and graduated in 2001 from Kinnaird College, Lahore. She obtained the degree of MA (International Relations) from Middlesex University, London in 2005. She started her political career in 1997 and was elected as Vice Chairperson, District Council, Rahim Yar Khan. In 2002 and 2008, she contested general election for NA-193. She belongs to a renowned political family. Her grandfather remained MLA during 1962-65, 1965–70 and as MPA during 1977, as Member Majlis-e-Shura during 1978-85 and MNA during 1985-88. Her father served as Advisor to Chief Minister, Provincial Minister for Health and Deputy Speaker, National Assembly during 1997 and her mother was MNA during 1985, 2002 and is sitting MNA. Mrs Zeb Jaffar has travelled to Europe, USA, UAE, Hong Kong, Singapore and Saudi Arabia. She takes keen interest in languages and culture. Presently, she is working for special education and has set up her own NGO for this purpose.
