Zeus Mortgage, Ltd. is a Houston-based mortgage provider of home-equity loans and mortgages to individual consumers.[1] The Houston Business Journal and Inc.magazine placed Zeus Mortgage on the list of the fastest-growing companies in the United States.[1] Between 2007 and 2010, the company had a three-year annual growth rate of 63%. Annual revenues in 2010 were $4.9 million.[1]

History

CEO Steven Kaufman founded Zeus Mortgage in 2004.[1] The company provides mortgage and home equity loans to individual consumers and offers services for corporate clients.[2] It has provided real-estate financing for companies like Exxon Mobil, Hewlett Packard, and American Express.[3] Today, Zeus Mortgage has 27 employees and has locations in Houston, Austin, San Antonio, and Dallas.[1]

In 2011, Zeus Mortgage ranked #143 in its industry in Inc. Magazine's listing of fastest-growth private companies.[1] The company was ranked #3,127 overall.[4]

Leadership

Steven Kaufman serves as the company’s CEO. Kaufman made his first loan at the age of 14.[5]

In 2012, the Astros In Action Foundation named Kaufman the August Hometown Hero. This title recognizes Houston citizens who have assisted the local communities.[6][7] In 2011, he was also a West Houston Chamber of Commerce Star Award Finalist and a Houston Business Journal 40 Under 40 Nominee.[7] He was also ranked in the 2012 National Mortgage Professional Magazine 40 Under 40 article and was the only Houston-based mortgage professional to be recognized.[3][5][8]

Recognition

Zeus Mortgage has been ranked as one of the fastest-growing private firms in the U.S. In 2009, it ranked 14 out the 100 top companies in the Houston Business Journal's annual Houston Fast 100 list.[9] Zeus Mortgage also earned the Enterprise Champion award. [10] In 2010, Zeus Mortgage again ranked on the Top 100 list at number 37. The rankings are based on two-year revenue growth rates.[11]

Kaufman and the loan officers at Zeus Mortgage have been interviewed about the real estate and mortgage markets by ABC, CNN, CBS, FOX, and Bloomberg News.[12]

Philanthropy

Kaufman created The Fanatical Change Foundation, a local charity that seeks out families in need and collects donations through fundraising events.[12]

The Foundation raises money by sponsoring fundraisers that go directly towards the families in need.[13] The Foundation is a zero-overhead organization and delivers 100% of the money raised to the families in the form of goods and services.[12] As of 2012, the organization had raised nearly $400,000 in donations. Zeus Mortgage is a sponsor of the Foundation, and Kaufman remains its president.[14]
