Zhou Dongyu (Chinese: 周冬雨; pinyin: Zhōu Dōngyǔ; born 1992) is a Chinese actress, who gained recognition after appearing in Zhang Yimou's film The Love of the Hawthorn Tree. She is originally from Hebei, and had no acting experience prior to taking on the role. Zhou intends to begin a professional acting career in the future.[1]
Early life
Zhou Dongyu was born in Shijiazhuang on 31 Jan 1992,and graduated from the Beijing Film Academy in 2015.She became famous for the character “jingqiu”in film [The Love of the Hawthorn Tree].She intends to begin a professional acting career in the future.
Acting career
2010, ZhouDongYu was widely recognized in the industry and the public because of the heroine”jingqiu” in the film "The Love of the Hawthorn Tree" directed by Zhang Yimou. Depend on her excellent performances in the film,she got Best actress Award in the 56th Valladolid International Film Spain Festival, Outstanding Newcomer in the 14th China film Hua Biao Award and Best New Artist in the 20th Shanghai film Critics.
2011–2013 successively starred in "Allure of Tears," "Palace lock incense" and other movies.
2014, ZhouDongYu starring youth romance movie "same table for you" in mainland China harvested 460 million at the box office, becoming the first starred in the box office over 400 million 90’s actress.
In the same year, in the comedy movie "Breakup Buddies" she acted as the girl Zhou Lijuan, could be a real surprise for audiences.
2015, ZhouDongYu acted in different themes of films, such as "The Ark of Mr. Chow," "A Nail Clippers Romance", "Begin Again", "Lost in White" , really doing a good jod.
