Zhu Lin (Chinese: 朱琳; born 28 January 1994) is a Chinese tennis player.
Zhu has won six singles and three doubles titles on the ITF tour in her career. On 10 November 2014, she reached her best singles ranking of world number 133. On 10 November 2014, she peaked at world number 302 in the doubles rankings.
Zhu made her WTA tour debut at the 2014 Hong Kong Tennis Open. Having entered the qualifying tournament, she defeated Wang Yafan, Raluca Olaru, and Elitsa Kostova for a spot in the main draw, where she subsequently recorded her first ever main draw win at the WTA level by defeating Kristýna Plíšková in the first round.
Controversy
Zhu was involved in an extremely controversial decision in a match against Francesca Schiavone at the 2015 Indian Wells tournament. After Schiavone played a drop shot two set points down, Zhu was late to reach the ball and after she had made contact it had visibly bounced on her side of the court before floundering over the net. Right after the point, Zhu was clearly seen walking towards the far right side of the court, about to get ready to receive, obviously expecting that she had lost the point, only to change her mind when noticing the chair umpire had not seen what had actually happened. When she was asked about the incident both by her opponent and the chair umpire, Zhu had denied any wrongdoing although the footage clearly suggested otherwise. She went on to defeat Schiavone in the deciding set, but later received considerable criticism for her poor sportsmanship.
