History

Zimmber was founded in September 2014, by Anubhab Goel, Amit Kumar and Gaurav Shrivastava. The company was registered under the name Rejuvenate Solutions Private Limited.[2] The company started its operations in Mumbai and gradually expanded to other Metro and Tier I cities including Delhi, Pune and Gurgaon. The company launched the Zimmber platform for booking customer orders in October 2014.

During the period November 2014 to June 2015, the company raised funding from Angel Investors including Praveen Sinha, co-founder and managing director of Jabong.com, Satyam Bansal, director at Flipkart and Naveen Tiwari, Mohit Saxena, and Amit Gupta, the co-founders of InMobi.[3]

Since July 2015, Zimmber has raised funding from venture capital funds and Institutional investors including IDG Ventures, Omidyar Network, Ram Shriram's (founding board member of Google) Sherpalo Ventures and T.V. Mohandas Pai's (chairman of Manipal Global Education and former Infosys director) Aarin capital.[4]

Zimmber has also acquired Dhulai, a Mumbai-based start-up that provides laundry services.[5]

Services

Zimmber provides home services including AC servicing, Plumbing, Electrical Repair Services, Home SPA, Pest Control Services, Carpentry Services, Laundry, Driver on Demand and Painting Services. It enables the booking of these services through its website and an app.

Zimmber works on an aggregation model where it contracts with a large number of service providers in each specific service areas and then connects them with households. The company uses third party services to vet service providers for security and applies quality controls to make sure that the service providers are competent. By December 2015 , the company has been able to attract close to 700 service providers who are called “champs”.[6]

Employee Relations

Zimmber's service professionals are its contractual partners and not salaried employees.[7] The company has partnered with Aspiring Minds, an assessment company that helps organisations, governments and institutions measure and identify talents, to put a test for plumbers on its platform to check their basic aptitude.[8]
