Zlatý slavík

Zlatý slavík
Awarded for Popularity in the music industry.
Country Czechoslovakia
First awarded 1962

Zlatý slavík (English: Golden Nightingale) was a music poll established by magazine Mladý svět along with Smena na nedeľu in 1962, and broadcast on television.

As later exposed, since the 70's the entries were very frequently falsified by Communist Party of Czechoslovakia (KSČ). The poll lasted until 1991, prior to the Dissolution of Czechoslovakia the following year. While in the initial edition of the pool 797 votes in total were received, the highest number registered in its almost thirty years long history surpassed 115,000.[1]
