Álvaro Medrán Just (Spanish pronunciation: ['alβaɾo me'ðɾan xuzt]; born 15 March 1994) is a Spanish professional footballer who plays for Getafe CF on loan from Real Madrid as a midfielder.
Club career
Real Madrid
Born in Dos Torres, Province of Córdoba, Medrán played youth football for local teams before joining Real Madrid's youth setup in 2011, aged 17.
After being promoted to the C-team in the 2013 summer, Medrán played his first match as a professional on 23 February 2014, coming on as a second-half substitute in a 2–0 win at Real Zaragoza for the B-team in the Segunda División championship.[1] He scored his first professional goals on 31 May, netting a brace in a 2–1 home success against CE Sabadell FC.[2]
Medrán made his first team – and La Liga – debut on 18 October, replacing Luka Modrić in the 79th minute of a 5–0 away routing over Levante UD.[3] On 9 December, in his UEFA Champions League debut, he scored his first senior goal for the club, after replacing Gareth Bale in the 83rd minute and netting the last of a 4–0 win over Ludogorets Razgrad five minutes later.[4]
On 2 July 2015 Medrán was loaned to Getafe CF also in the top division, in a season-long deal.[5]
