140 Squadron of the Israeli Air Force, also known as the Golden Eagle Squadron, was an F-16A/B fighter squadron based at Nevatim Airbase.[1]

On 2 August 2013, as part of the IDF's budget cuts, it was closed and merged with 116 Squadron (Defenders of the south).

In 2015 it was announced that the "Golden Eagle" will be the first Lockheed Martin F-35 Adir Squadron in the IAF.[2]
