South China won the championship in 1954-55.

Hong Kong First Division League was established in 1908, which is the first professional football league in Asia. It become the top level in Hong Kong football league system. It is charged by Hong Kong Football Association (HKFA). According to the implement of the <<Phoenix Project>>, a company which is independent of the football association would be founded. The company would be responsible for operating the new Hong Kong Super Football League and turn into the top level in Hong Kong football league system. Since the football league has established, South China won the most time of the champion, which is 40 times. Seiko rank only second to South China, It has got 9 times of the champion, Happy Valley has got the champion for 6 times.
