The 1982 NBL season was the fourth season of competition since its establishment in 1979. A total of 14 teams contested in the league from 6 states and 1 territory across Australia. The regular season was played between 6 February 1982 until 11 July 1982 with the top 4 teams playing sudden death semi finals (1v4 and 2v3) with the winners going on into the final to determine the champions.
