The 1987–88 All-Ireland Senior Club Hurling Championship was the 18th staging of the All-Ireland Senior Club Hurling Championship, an inter-county knockout competition for Ireland's top championship clubs representing each county. The championship was won by Midleton of Cork, who beat Athenry of Galway by 3–8 to 0–9 in the final.[1]

Pre-championship

Of all the clubs that contested the 1987–88 championship season, Rathnure of Wexford were the only team to have reached the latter stages of the previous year's championship. They were the All-Ireland runners-up in 1987, losing out to Borrisoleigh of Tipperary, and were hotly tipped to make it back to the final for a second consecutive year. Other teams contesting the championship that had previously enjoyed provincial success were Midleton of Cork, Ballycran of Down and Ruairí Óg of Antrim.
