The 1992-93 NBA season was the Pistons' 45th season in the NBA and 36th season in the city of Detroit.[1] Under new head coach Ron Rothstein, the Pistons years of battle would catch up with them as they missed the playoffs for the first time in ten years, finishing sixth in the Central Division with a 40-42 record. Along the way, Orlando Woolridge was traded at midseason to the Milwaukee Bucks for Alvin Robertson. Despite the struggles, Dennis Rodman again led the league in rebounding with 18.3 per game. However, his bizarre behavior off the court was a great concern as he was involved in several off court incidents. Following the season, he was dealt to the San Antonio Spurs for Sean Elliott.
