The 2000 Washington Redskins season began with the team trying to improve on their 10–6 record from 1999. Instead, they struggled and ended the year at 8-8.

Newly acquired Deion Sanders played in just one season with Washington before retiring as the season ended. Sanders came out of retirement in 2004 and signed with the Baltimore Ravens and played there until 2005.
