The 20022003 season was Hereford United's 6th season in the Conference National which saw them finish 6th.

Following the club's troubled 2001-02 season when they finished 17th, the majority of the first team squad were released, with only six contracted players remaining.[1] Leading goalscorer Gavin Williams was offered a new contract, but chose instead to sign for Yeovil Town who paid Hereford £22,500. Graham Turner built a new squad, drawing largely from the pool of players released from Football League clubs, a consequence of the ITV Digital collapse.[2]

For the first time in their history the club allocated squad numbers to the first team, as did the rest of the clubs in the Conference National.
