The Skate Canada International is an international, senior-level invitation-only figure skating competition. It is part of the ISU Grand Prix of Figure Skating. The location changes yearly. Medals are awarded in four disciplines: men's singles, ladies' singles, pair skating, and ice dancing.
In 2005, it was held from October 27 to 30th at the Mile One Stadium in St. John's, Newfoundland and Labrador.
The compulsory dance was the Yankee Polka.

Jeffrey Buttle's pants split during his long program; it posed no danger so he continued skating with no pause.[1]
