2006 Abdou Moumouni University protests

The 2006 Abdou Moumouni University protests were student protests which took place during June 2006 in Niamey, Niger over the non-payment of grants to students at the university. The protests temporarily shut down Abdou Moumouni University, the only public university in the country. Students set ten cars on fire and police fired tear gas at the student protesters. Less than 200 of the 7,000 students remained on campus on 2 June following an evacuation order by the government.[1]
