The season highlights include the signing of new international players and the new manager Luis Fernando Suárez, who won a championship with Atl. Nacional in 1999. Adidas replaced marathon as the kit-manufacturer; this will increase the team's worldwide exposure. This season they will only participate in Torneo Apertura 2009, Torneo Finalización 2009 and Copa Colombia.

Team kit

This year Atlético Nacional changed their kit manufacturer to Adidas as their one-year contract with marathon expired. Postobón will still be their shirt sponsor making this year their tenth year sponsoring them.
