The 2012 season was Cork City's first season back in the League of Ireland Premier Division, having won the League of Ireland First Division in the 2011 season, since the club re-entered the League of Ireland prior to the 2010 League of Ireland season. Cork City finished in 6th position in the league and reached the third and second rounds in the FAI Cup and League of Ireland Cup respectively.
