The 2012 season (December 2011 - October 2012) was the 93rd season of football for Drogheda United. This was Drogheda United's 11th campaign in the League of Ireland Premier Division since being promoted in the 2001–02 season.

It was the second year that Mick Cooke was the teams manager, following replacing Bobby Browne in February 2011.

This year the club remarkably finished 2nd out of 12 in the League of Ireland Premier Division, just 4 points off champions Sligo Rovers and by doing so secured qualification to the UEFA Europa League First Qualifying Round and the Setanta Cup for 2013. It was their highest finish in 5 years since winning the 2007 League of Ireland. An FAI Cup quarter-final was reached for the first time in 7 years since winning the 2005 FAI Cup Final.

The highlight of the season was undoubtedly the winning of the League of Ireland Cup for the first time since 1984, 28 years ago. They defeated Shamrock Rovers 3-1 in Tallaght Stadium.
