Kit

Supplier: Joma / Sponsor: Asac Comunicaciones

Kit information

For this season the shirt sponsor is Asac Comunicaciones, an asturian computing consultancy with delegations in Catalonia and Galicia [1] since round 5 match against Guijuelo onwards. The kits were unveiled by the club on 25 July 2014.[2] Home kit includes the words "Pride, Courage and Drive" who are part of the club's anthem on back [2] while third kit includes two small crest below the current crest representing Club Deportivo Oviedo and Real Stadium Club Ovetense, the two teams merged in 1926 to create the Real Oviedo.[2] Additionally like last season an alternative third kit will be orange in recognition of the work of the Sandra Ibarra's Foundation against cancer.[2] The kit also features on the back two sponsors: Tartiere Auto and Grupo Cominacalia. Last one since round 15 match against Zamora onwards.[3]

Season overview

Preseason

Last season, Oviedo did not finish in top four positions who granted access to play playoffs for promotion to the Segunda División so the director of football Carmelo del Pozo started the renovation of the squad immediately. On May 13 the first signing was the asturian goalkeeper Esteban who played for Real Oviedo during five seasons between 1997 and 2002. He signed until June 2016.[4] Four days after, Gorka, a substitute for Esteban was signed. Before May ends, Real Oviedo made another signing, the hot prospect Borja Valle

Three more signings were made during June including the return of defender Nacho López who played in Oviedo's youth system and later in the first team until 2008, the veteran striker Miguel Linares who played in Segunda División last five seasons scoring 32 goals in 125 matches [5] and Dani Bautista a left back who played more than 200 matches in Segunda División

In July, Argentine-Spanish coach Sergio Egea who briefly worked previously with Esteban at Almería was appointed as manager replacing Roberto Robles [6] Real Oviedo completes their squad with five new signings including three players with lots of experience at first-tier (Generelo, Jonathan Vila and Héctor Font)

Oviedo started the preseason on July 23 and played six friendly games including one against their reserve team and the Ramón Losada's trophy against Real Valladolid. Oviedo won the trophy by 1-0 with a goal of Cervero [7]

August

The club started playng at home against long time rivals Sporting de Gijón reserve team winning 3-1 with a double of Miguel Linares. Unfortunately Borja Valle suffered an injury to his left ankle. Next round the club played with another asturian team, Aviles ending with a 0-0 scoreline.

September

Oviedo strongly won their three first matches of the month with a total of ten goals scored and only two conceded. But the last match, Oviedo lost their first match against Real Valladolid's reserve team in a match who ended 4-3 for the home team with a goal in minute 87, only two minutes after Josep Señe equalized the match in his first appearance of the season. On September 3 won the first round of Copa del Rey with a contundent 4-0 against basque team Amorebieta and received a bye

October

Like previous month Oviedo won three of the four league matches with a total of eight goals scored and only one conceded against Celta B. In this match Miguel Linares scored his first hat-trick although the referee appointe incorrectly his first goal to Señé. On October 12 Oviedo suffered a big defeat by 4-1 against Racing Ferrol. Only three days after, Oviedo gets a place in the final phase of Copa del Rey after beating UCAM Murcia with a goal of Miguel Linares in minute 96

November

Miguel Linares scores two hat-trick in the two home matches reaching 18 goals in league. Only Cristiano Ronaldo scored as many goals as him in the first four levels of Spanish league system getting lots of attention from the Spanish media.[8][9][10] On November 18, reaches the mark of 15,000 season ticket holders only third months after they release the holders campaign for the current season. Carlos Slim (owner of Grupo Carso who controls the 34% of Real Oviedo's shares) becomes the 15,000th.[11] Borja Valle played against Real Murcia his first minutes since the injury suffered in August.

December

Real Oviedo lost their first home match against Zamora but still holds the first position of the group. On December 4 with many benchwarmers and some players from reserve team draws 0-0 against Real Sociedad in the first match of the Copa del Rey's round of 32. David González makes his debut replacing team's captain Diego Cervero in the minute 58 but in the second game a double of Finnbogason eliminates Real Oviedo from the cup. Allyson makes his debut replacing Diego Cervero in the minute 54. On December 9 Real Oviedo signs Manuel Redondo from thai team Buriram United
