The 2015–16 Andebol 1 (also known as Fidelidade Andebol 1 for sponsorship reasons) is the 64th season of the Portuguese Handball First Division, the premier professional handball league in Portugal.

A total of twelve teams play against each other twice (home and away) in the first phase. The eight best-ranked teams qualify for the second-phase play-offs to determine the champion, while the remaining four play among themselves to determine which two teams are relegated to the Second Division.

Porto were the seven-time defending champions, but were eliminated by Benfica in the play-off semi-finals.

A total of twelve teams contest the 2015–16 league, including ten sides from the previous season. The remaining two teams – Avanca and Fafe – were promoted from the 2014–15 Second Division, replacing the relegated sides of Santo Tirso and Xico Andebol.

First phase

The first phase is contested under a double round-robin format, as teams play against each other twice (home and away). After all matches have been played, the top eight-ranked teams advance to the second-phase play-offs, while the remaining four contest a relegation mini-tournament.
