2015–16 Liga Alef

The 2015–16 Liga Alef season is the current season of third tier football in Israel. League matches began on 25 September 2015 and are due to end in May 2016.

The champions of each division will be promoted to Liga Leumit, whilst the clubs which will be ranked between 2nd to 5th places in each division will compete in a promotion play-offs, in which the winner will compete in two-legged play-off against the 14th placed club in Liga Leumit for a spot in Liga Leumit in the 2016-17 season.

1 No points or goals were awarded for Maccabi Daliyat al-Karmel - Hapoel Ironi Baqa al-Gharbiyye macth, which was abandoned due to brawl after 87 minutes, at 1-1.[2][3]

Promotion play-offs

First round

Second and third placed clubs will play single match at home against the fourth and fifth placed clubs in their respective regional division.

The two winners will advance to the semifinals (second round).

Second round

The winners of the first round will play single match at home of the higher ranked club (from each regional division).

The two winners will advance to the overall final (third round).

Third round

The second round winners will face each other for a single match in neutral venue. The winner will advance to the fourth round against the 14th placed club in Liga Leumit.

Fourth round - promotion/relegation play-offs

The third round winners will face the 14th placed in 2015–16 Liga Leumit. The winner on aggregate will earn a spot in the 2016–17 Liga Leumit.

Relegation play-offs

North play-off

The 14th placed club in Liga Alef North, Maccabi Daliyat al-Karmel, will face the Liga Bet North play-offs winner. The winner will earn a spot in the 2016–17 Liga Alef.

South play-off

The 14th placed club in Liga Alef South, Maccabi Amishav Petah Tikva, will face the Liga Bet South play-offs winner. The winner will earn a spot in the 2016–17 Liga Alef.
