January

• January 5 - Introduction of separate buses for women.^[1][2]

March

• March 4 - Turkish Airlines Flight TK726, landing in dense fog in Kathmandu, skids off a slippery runway, however, there are no serious injuries.^[3]

April

• April 25 - A magnitude 7.6 earthquake struck Nepal 34 km (21 mi) east southeast of Lamjung at a depth of 15.0 km (9.3 mi).^[4] In total, at least 10000 people were killed in Nepal, India, Bangladesh, and China.^[5][6]

May

• May 12 - A magnitude 7.3 earthquake strikes the town of Namche Bazaar near the Tibetan border and the base camp for Mount Everest, killing at least 66 people in Nepal. ^[7]

October

• October 29 -Bidhya Devi Bhandari first Nepalese woman President to hold the office. ^[8]
