2017–18 Volvo Ocean Race

The 2017–18 Volvo Ocean Race will be the 13th edition of the round-the-world Volvo Ocean Race. It will start in Alicante, Spain,[1] and will conclude in The Hague, Netherlands.[2][3]

Main article: Volvo Ocean 65

For the second edition running, the race will be one-design, racing the Volvo Ocean 65.[4] The VO65 was designed by Farr Yacht Design to be a cheaper and safer alternative to the ageing and expensive Volvo Open 70.[5]

Race schedule

As of 13 April 2016, nine ports have been confirmed for the 2017–18 race.

The race will again start in Alicante, Spain,[1] with stops in

Cape Town, South Africa; Hong Kong, China; Auckland, New Zealand; Newport, Rhode Island, USA; Cardiff, Wales; Lisbon, Portugal; Gothenburg, Sweden and will finish in The Hague, Netherlands.[3]

The full route for this edition will be announced in January 2016.[6]
