The 2018 IIHF World Junior Championship will be the 42nd Ice Hockey World Junior Championship. It will be hosted by the National Hockey League's Buffalo Sabres[2] at the First Niagara Center and HarborCenter in Buffalo, New York, with at least one outdoor game to be held at Ralph Wilson Stadium in nearby Orchard Park, New York. It begins on December 26, 2017, and will end with the gold medal game being played on January 5, 2018. This marks the sixth time that the United States has hosted the IHWJC and the second time that Buffalo has done so (Buffalo also hosted the event in 2011).

Potential Hosts
On July 28, 2015, USA Hockey named the five initial finalists for hosting the event:[3]
Chicago and Tampa were eliminated on September 15.[4] Buffalo was chosen as the host site on December 3, with a formal announcement on December 4.[5] In a first for the series, at least one of the games is expected to be hosted outdoors.[1]
