Adalberto Peñaranda Maestre (born 31 May 1997) is a Venezuelan footballer who plays for Spanish club Granada CF on loan from Watford as a forward.

Club career

Peñaranda was born in El Vigía, Alberto Adriani Municipality, Mérida. A Deportivo La Guaira youth graduate, he made his professional – and Primera División – debut on 11 August 2013, starting in a 1–3 home loss against Deportivo Táchira.[1]

Peñaranda scored his first goal as a senior on 23 February 2014, netting his team's only in a 1–4 loss at Caracas FC.[2] He finished the campaign with 18 appearances and one goal (1233 minutes of action).

On 16 June 2015 Peñaranda moved to Udinese Calcio, being immediately loaned to Granada CF and assigned to the latter's reserves in Segunda División B.[3] On 22 November he made his La Liga debut, starting in a 2–0 home win against Athletic Bilbao.[4]

On 12 December 2015 Peñaranda scored his first goals in the main category of Spanish football, netting a brace in a 2–1 away win against Levante UD.[5] On 1 February of the following year he signed a four-and-a-half-year deal with Premier League side Watford F.C., but remaining on loan at Granada for 6 months.[6]

Personal life

On 18 April 2015 Peñaranda and fellow Deportivo La Guaira teammate Charlys Ortíz were both shot after going to a party. While Peñaranda suffered only a minor thigh injury, Ortiz undernwent surgery in the following day.[7]
