Adam James Ball (born 1 March 1993) is an English cricketer. Ball is a right-handed batsman who bowls left-arm fast-medium. He was born in Greenwich, London.
Ball presently represented the England Under-19s, having made his debut for the team against Afghanistan Under-19s in a Youth One Day International in the 2010 Under-19 World Cup.[1] He has since gone on to play Youth Test and Youth Twenty20 Internationals.[2] During the 2010 season he made his debut for Kent in a List A match against Durham in the Clydesdale Bank 40,[3] during the match dismissing Phil Mustard for a duck.[4]
During the 2011 season, he made nine List A appearances in the 2011 Clydesdale Bank 40.[3] Following his final List A appearance of that season against Derbyshire, Ball had taken his wicket tally in that format to 13 wickets at an average of 23.00, with best figures of 2/31.[5] With the bat he had scored 66 runs at a batting average of 22.00, with a high score of 19.[6] During this season he made his first-class debut for the county against Gloucestershire. During the course of the 2011 season he made eight further first-class appearances, the last of which came against Glamorgan,[7] in a match which was the first day/night County Championship match to be played in England.[8] In his nine first-class matches that season, he took 15 wickets at an average of 37.33, with best figures of 3/36.[9] With the bat, he scored 184 runs at an average of 13.14, with a high score of 46.[10] His Twenty20 debut came against Somerset in the 2011 Friends Provident t20, with Ball making twelve further appearances in that competition.[11] During the course of the competition he took 10 wickets at an average of 28.00, with best figures of 2/28.[12]
In 2013, Ball appeared only twice in the County Championship, but 9 times in the YB40.[13]
