Anthony Ssewabuga (born June 1, 1988),[1] better known by his stage name Aethan, is a Ugandan record producer and musician. Born in Kampala,he is popularly known for the tag Aethan Music, as mentioned by artists in the different songs he has produced for them.He learnt his skills on a laptop. He used to produce beats from secondary school through university with his colleague William Wasukira.[1] His debut was in 2008 when he produced I’m So Ug by The mith.

Early life

Anthony Ssewabuga born in Kampala District into a family of 8 children.He attended Kisubi Minor Seminary, Naalya Senior Secondary School and University at Makerere University where he studied Procurement.[2]

Musical career

In 2008, Aethan produced the hit single I'm so Ug for The Mith, a member of rap group, Klear Kut.[1] This song opened doors for him to start producing for other artists, especially Hip Hop acts. Some of his productions have won awards as well as numerous award nominations across Africa and the world. He has done production for Navio (rapper), songs like Leka Kwenyumiliza, Kata among others that won him HIPIPO awards,[3] as well as One & Only for Navio that got him nominated at the Channel O Music Video Awards in 2012.[4] Aethan has worked with Ugandan hip hop Legends like GNL Zamba on songs like Ani Yali Amanyi, a classic song sampled from the original, performed by Elly Wamala. He has worked with new comers as well like rapper Flex D'Paper, who has had number one songs on the local radios in Uganda and East Africa produced by Aethan. [5] He has been able to give his unique production style to artists doing other genres besides Hip Hop like producing Be Happy for BET Awards 2015 winner Eddy Kenzo [6] a song that went ahead to get nominations and win awards across the world. Due to his production skills, he has been in studio with some African artists trending internationally like artists Burna Boy and Davido, Who have worked with him in different capacities. In late 2015, Aethan produced the African hit single Gbesile by Navio featuring Nigerian dancehall and Afro pop artist Burna Boy a collaboration between Uganda and West Africa. [7] [8] [9] [10]
