Afghanistan national under-17 football team is controlled by Afghanistan Football Federation and represents Afghanistan in international under-17 football competitions. The team properly qualified to 2012 AFC U-16 Championship but was disqualified from the tournament for fielding an ineligible player in 2012 AFC U-16 Championship qualification.
2012 AFC U-16 Championship qualification
Afghanistan have qualified to the tournament on the basis of best third place finisher. Afghanistan have played five matches and won two while drawn two and lost only one game. Afghanistan drawn with Kuwait and United Arab Emirates while won against Yemen. On Fourth Match Afghanistan lost to Pakistan but on their last game of the tournament won 9-0 against Maldives. At the end of the tournament it was decided by AFC that Afghanistan qualify for the tournament.[1] However, on 20 October 2011 The AFC disqualified Afghanistan from 2012 AFC U-16 Championship for fielding the ineligible player Zainuddin Amruddin in the qualifying matches against Kuwait, Yemen and United Arab Emirates. Afghanistan will now be replaced by Saudi Arabia in the Final tournament.[2]
